Recent Move to Florida

Hello All,

So I have recently moved to South Florida. I am a Wisconsin girl, born and bred, and I decided I should try something new when I went to Grad School.

After months of hard Searching, Nova Southeastern, in Fort Lauderdale, ended up being my winner. Little did I know how much more expensive everything is down in Florida. Gas is more, clothes are more (not to mention there is a shopping mall every 2 miles, so you are never able to get away from the idea of new clothes) and all the bars are RIDICULOUSLY MORE.

Because of the ever increasing price of living an interesting life, I decided to go on a search for the free or nearly free South Florida. I want to have fun without spending everyone of my pay checks to do it.

So I am going to start this Blog Excursion with a little place I like to call my new "Getaway".

I love fresh food and veggies and I LOVE farmers markets even more. The people, the smells, the sights... all of it is so... INTOXICATING!

I heard a whisper through the crowd I hang around about a farmers market that allows you to drink a bottle of wine while you are walking around and shopping. I WAS SOLD!

The next weekend I took a trek to the Yellow Green Farmers Market in Hollywood, Florida.

This place was filled with your typical farmers market stuff, but also specialty shops selling oil perfumes, "found things" lamps, flavored olive oil, olive bars and pop up restaurants.

There was one place in particular that had sold me on this Wonderful Gem: Amber's Tropical Escape! Amber is the most Wonderful woman ever. I was out with my friend, Stephani, and we saw a woman bringing a BEAUTIFUL salad to another booth. Stephani stopped her and asked, "where did you get that delicious looking salad?"

Amber Kindly replied "My restaurant booth".

Our next stop was obviously there. While sitting down eating our delicious food (a mozzarella, basil and tomato sandwich and fish dip), Amber started chatting us up, noticing that we weren't from the area because we weren't "Dirty" enough, she told us about some wonderful places to visit that would be safe for Midwestern girls like us.

So if you ever get a chance, stop in and say "Hi" to Amber, tell her Molly from Wisconsin sent you!

See you soon penny pinchers! Next week's post will be about some of the great places Amber recommended we visit!
